In a meeting this morning, I was reminded of the “shoe” story… a marketing company sent two representatives to Africa to research the possibility of marketing shoes in that country. One representative calls back to the corporate office and reports, “Bad news, nobody wears shoes here!” While the second representative calls back and says, “Great news, nobody wears shoes and we have a lot of opportunity!”
I wonder what I see each day….when someone says no or I feel blocked in some way, I wonder what my role is in interpreting what I see. Is it really what I think, or perhaps, is there another perspective which could provide an opening for me? It makes me wonder what kind of options I might have if I looked at things with a lens of opportunity. What is possible for me today?
